Healing Honestly…

What nobody tells you about getting better

Healing is not pretty.
It is not linear.
It is not aesthetic.

It is crying in your car.
It is canceling plans.
It is forgiving people who never apologized.
It is missing what hurt you.
It is outgrowing who you used to be.

Healing honestly means admitting that sometimes you don’t feel strong — you just feel tired.

We live in a world that loves inspirational quotes but avoids uncomfortable truth. We are told to “stay positive,” “move on,” “be grateful,” as if grief, anger, confusion, and exhaustion are personal failures instead of human experiences.

But real healing doesn’t come from pretending everything is okay.

It comes from telling the truth.

Healing honestly means:

• Admitting you are hurt
• Allowing yourself to feel without rushing to fix it
• Setting boundaries even when it feels uncomfortable
• Grieving what could have been
• Letting go of timelines for “getting over it”
• Choosing peace over proving your point
• Accepting that some chapters close without closure

Healing is not becoming who you were before.
It is becoming someone new — someone wiser, softer, stronger, and more discerning.

Some days healing looks like progress.

Some days it looks like survival.

You might be doing all the “right things” — journaling, praying, therapy, breathwork, clean living — and still feel heavy. That doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means your nervous system, your heart, and your spirit are catching up to what you’ve been through.

Your body remembers what your mind tries to forget.

And healing happens in layers.

The truth most people won’t say:

You can miss people who were bad for you.
You can love someone and still choose distance.
You can feel grateful and heartbroken at the same time.
You can heal and still have scars.

Two things can be true at once.

Healing honestly also means celebrating quiet victories:

Getting out of bed
Saying no
Eating when you had no appetite
Not texting back
Taking a shower
Going outside
Asking for help
Choosing yourself

These things may look small to others, but they are mountains when you are hurting.

You are not broken — you are processing.

Your sensitivity is not weakness.
Your tears are not regression.
Your boundaries are not cruelty.
Your rest is not laziness.

You are recalibrating.

If you are in a hard season right now:

You don’t need to rush.
You don’t need to prove anything.
You don’t need to be inspirational.

You just need to keep going.

One breath.
One hour.
One day at a time.

A gentle reminder from C’est La Vie NOLA

Life gets real.
Healing gets messy.
But you are still here.
And that counts for more than you know.

You don’t have to turn your pain into purpose overnight.
Sometimes surviving is the purpose.

Affirmation for today

“I am allowed to heal at my own pace.
I honor where I am without shame.”

If this spoke to you, save it for the days when you forget how far you’ve come.

You are not behind.
You are not alone.
You are healing — honestly.
